Windy Meadows is a working horse farm located in the heart of the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky, in an equestrian community called L'Esprit. It is home to nearly 100 horses of various breeds, disciplines and ages — US National, Canadian National and World Champions, as well as future champions, lesson horses and retirees.
Author Ellen "Ellie" Troutman and her family own Windy Meadows Stables and get great pleasure from introducing their horses to visitors, especially to children who visit the farm for field trips and riding lessons. Ellie is the founder of a non-profit charity for children who cannot afford to ride, and she frequently welcomes those children to Windy Meadows to ride her horses. She and her family also take in surrendered horses from people who can no longer care for them.
The Tails of Windy Meadows is a story about what a day is like on this beautiful horse farm in LaGrange, Kentucky, told mostly through the eyes of the colorful horse characters who live in its barns. It is Ellie's first book, and she hopes her tale will open the gates of Windy Meadows, and the stalls of her delightful horses, to the hearts of horse lovers everywhere.
